Learning for the Future

Learning for the Future

Talsi State gymnasium (TSG) is the gymnasium in Kurzeme (one of four regions in Latvia). We are located near the sea in a beautiful area. Talsi town is one of the most beautiful Latvian towns. It is called the heart of the northern Kurzeme. The town is situated on 9 hillocks and has two lakes. The most beautiful picture of Talsi can be seen in florescence time of cherries, apple-trees, and lilacs.  Talsi is located 150 km from Riga on the West.

Talsi State gymnasium (TSG) is an educational institution which provides students with competitive educational background. Teachers of TSG work with students with different learning abilities (students with learning disabilities and talented students) and from different social groups.
In TSG learns 255 students in any of the 5 general education programs. In parallel with the education programs, gymnasium offers a wide range of interests in cultural education curriculum (choirs, vocal ensembles, dance groups, theatre studio, debate club, literal studies, etc.), sport (athletic, floorball, etc.), technical innovation, etc. Learning at school is very different forms-theory, workshops, study tours, lectures, workshops, classes, etc. in laboratories of research institutions.

TSG has a large project experience in different programs at national and international level. Since 1991 TSG is active in various UNESCO projects and programs (The Baltic Sea Project, The Great Volga River Route, etc.), and since 1998 the school has received a UNESCO ASP certificate and creative work of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project. This school year we took part at a project “The World at Your Library” etc.
The value of school – in TSG there are learning smart, talented and educationally motivated teenagers. Educators’  challenge – besides innovative ideas to create a connection among different generations helping youth to take over the heritage of moral and cultural values.

Un atbildes vēstule no 7.klases skolēniem.

It was very nice suprise to receive video about your Easter tradition – dying eggs.

After watching your video our students comment dying eggs.

Foto from 7. A class (26.03.2013)

I think that is a good way of colouring eggs. We put all sorts of things by the egg – onion skips, flowers. Then we just boil them and see what’s happening. (Ansis)

I really liked the video, because it showed how you paint your eggs. We paint eggs using materials from nature. (Reinis)

Your method how you are dying eggs is very interesting. In our country we do it a little different. We take nature materials, put them around the egg. Then we put egg into cloth and boil eggs in onion skins. (Artūrs)

I liked the way you decorated eggs. In Latvia we decorate eggs by putting flowers around the egg and putting them into boiling water with onion skins. (Aleksandrs)

Your video was very interesting. We paint eggs differently. (Māris)

I have never done like this before but it looks interesting. You all have talents! (Rebeka)

Hi! I have never thought about decorating eggs like that! Really interesting way how you decorate eggs! Good idea! And thanks for amazing video. (Patrīcija)

Interesting way, how you decorate eggs. We coloured eggs in onion skins. (Valters)

Happy Easter!
